Eating clean during the Holidays doesn’t have to be a drag.
Instead of feeling like a stuffed turkey on Thanksgiving or having a belly that jiggles like a bowl full of jelly come New Year's Day, let’s talk about a better approach.
Eating clean during the Holidays has many benefits:
Boosted Immunity: Nutrient-rich foods can help strengthen our immune systems, keeping us resilient against seasonal illnesses.
Sustained Energy: Clean eating provides a steady source of energy, preventing the energy crashes associated with sugary and processed foods.
Maintained Weight: Making nutritious choices can help us manage our weight during a time when unhealthy treats abound.
So how can we do it?
Stay Hydrated–Don't forget to stay hydrated! Water not only supports digestion but also helps us differentiate between hunger and thirst.
Healthy Swaps–Get creative with ingredient substitutions in traditional recipes to make them healthier. For example, use alternative flours instead of refined flours or opt for natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup.
Bring Your Own Dish–If you’re bringing a dish to the family potluck, count that dish as one that is on your healthy food list.
And the most important thing—Thanksgiving is one day. Enjoy all your favorites, but have a plan for getting back on track the next day with a fridge full of prepped meals that taste amazing and meet all your dietary needs!
